Hello and welcome to GCP Behaviour & Wellbeing
My name is Gabrielle and I am an interventionist
I set up GCP in 2017 working with a small group of home educating families, supporting their access to learning
I am an interventionist, not a counsellor

WHAT'S MY EXPERIENCE?
I come from education, having worked & trained in pupil referral units, specialist settings & mainstream schools across the district.
This has given me in-depth knowledge & experience into the world of education, behaviour, interventions & complex need

WHAT TO EXPECT... A big smile!
During the first couple of sessions I create my 'jigsaw' by asking questions around environmental aspects that influence us.
For example, home, school, friendships, family, experiences. From this I then look at specific opportunities for development and collaboratively through talking, drawing, exploring we create strategies to support these areas. Leading to a much happier you!
WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR?
I am searching for what I call 'challenge points'
These are areas of need within our behaviours, such as anger, anxiety, avoidance, emotional control. Through exploring I will also look at cognitive pathways & functioning skills, seeing if there are specific areas that require attention, such as concentration, focus, memory, thinking types
WHY INTERVENTION?
I come from specialist education, working with complex need, special educational need & behaviour. Intervention coupled with training & knowledge in counselling skills, child development, child psychology, mental health conditions and specialising in neurodivergence, intervention works. I find ways to engage & build rapport. Sessions are therapeutic & nurturing & they provide structure, self understanding, environmental understanding so that the young person can see how to embrace behaviour change in a 'whole' approach
CAN I HELP WITH HOME?
Yes, it is essential for me to work with family & carers to build a community around my young person, you can join in sessions, I will provide as much feedback as possible & I believe that we should work unanimously in your child's healing journey
CAN I HELP WITH SCHOOL?
Yes, my experience & training in behaviour has given me a platform for understanding how young people relate to their learning environments, I am up to date with DfES, Independent schools and Ofsted guidance & if there's something I don't know, I'll find out. I work with many local schools primary, secondary & specialist as well as any other outreach or professionals they may be affiliated with. I'm all about a collaborative approach
WHAT DOES THE OFFER LOOK LIKE?
I offer individual sessions ages 5 - 25, family or parent/carer sessions, intervention & training in schools & other education settings
CAMHS & OTHER
I offer a private & independent service. I do need feed into CAMHS but I can be valuable to the process of assessment, diagnosis and/or finding the right support. Some young people come to me & intervention alone works. Others come temporarily while on the waiting list for a CAMHS referral. Some young people & their families end up at my door following diagnosis & discharge, asking what now? I provide wrap around support to & from other services, offer supporting documentation for assessments & EHCP, I advise, signpost & am adaptive to NICE guidelines when working with others

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
I hold an Enhanced DBS
Advanced Safeguarding Qualification

I follow ethics & procedures to ensure a young person's safety at all times (this included psychological safety)
I engage in consistent training to ensure I am up to date with new policies & guidance
I am bound to child protection & safeguarding procedures including confidentiality where I feel a young person may be at risk
